We have some incredibly experienced and talented people in our team and always welcome approaches from experienced practitioners with a track record for success.
But we also work with lots of school and college leavers at the start of their career; people who are returning to work after career breaks or people simply changing direction and who want to do something different.
We currently have 15-apprenticeships running within our business. We’re also an apprenticeships Trailblazer, working with other leading companies and training provider, GFTS, to develop a dedicated apprenticeship for the fenestration sector.
Our training programme extends far further and right across our business through our dedicated leaders training scheme.
Valuing our Leaders, which was developed by Emplas in partnership with private training provider Beyond Theory has a clearly defined focus on how the upskilling of our leadership teams translates into efficiencies, enhanced product quality and better customer service
A total of 40 members of our factory team have gone through training, reinforcing and building the connection between what they do and customer service and quality.
A window industry veteran including nine years spent in purchasing, Supply Chain Manager Matt Lloyd has worked at Emplas since 2023.
Matt plays a key role, with responsibility for ensuring that everything we need to manage our aluminium products, composite doors and shaped frame products, is specified correctly and delivered on time.
He’s a project champion, working tirelessly to ensure our internal supply chain processes are robust, effective and dependable.
Emplas has supported Matt in his pursuit of further excellence through mentoring and training. With dedication and diligence he has recently achieved PRINCE2® Foundation and Practitioner certifications and the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) Diploma in Leadership and Management Level 4.
Ramona joined Emplas in 2022, beginning her journey in the Welding department.
In July 2022, she seized an opportunity to transition into the SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality) department taking on increasing responsibilities, coordinating the department’s essential functions.
Her role focuses on maintaining a safe work environment, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, conducting risk assessments, investigating incidents, delivering safety presentations, overseeing the proper use of PPE, and fostering a culture of workplace safety.
Ramona has successfully completed various Health and Safety courses, most recently earning the prestigious NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health) certification.
Our customer service and support is grounded on our IT capability, delivered by an in-house team of highly talented Software Developers.
Tom Woolford joined Emplas in 2021 having decided to retrain for a career in IT after the covid lockdowns. Tom is responsible for developing and maintaining our EVA (Emplas Virtual Assistant) platform, an invaluable tool for our customers, helping them to track orders, production schedules and more. As well as managing the internal ticketing system to keep the system working smoothly, he undertakes important development work to expand EVA capabilities.
Recognising Tom’s potential, Emplas has supported his training and development from the get-go, and he continues to excel himself having recently added a Level 4 End-point Assessment for Software Developer (9600-12) with Distinction to his professional credentials.
Micky, our Environmental Health & Safety Manager, joined the Royal Engineers straight from college qualifying as a Telecommunications Engineer and serving as a Combat Signaller. This included installing telecommunications equipment in tanks, as well as training soldiers on how to operate them.
Micky joined Emplas in 2016 as a Quality Control Supervisor. Now Environmental and Health & Safety Manager following a recent promotion he has key responsibilities for health and safety and is also spearheading our programme to minimise the impact our operations have on the environment.
Alongside the day job Micky continues to develop his skills and recently achieved National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) certification.
We’re also a signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant, committing to support the Armed Forces, former servicemen and women, and their families.
The Government scheme has been developed to make sure current and ex-servicemen and women aren’t disadvantaged by the service that they offer to their country, building a link between civilian and military communities.
In addition to committing to the Covenant, we’ve also committed to the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) as a Bronze Award holder.
This includes a pledge to promote an armed-forces-friendly culture, including employing reservists, ex-service personnel, cadet instructors and the partners of current service personnel.
