Head of Purchasing

2nd May 2017

Emplas has strengthened its senior management team with the appoint of Glyn Roberts as its new Head of Purchasing.

With a number of heavy-weight senior purchasing positions already under his belt in the window industry, as well as the automotive and heating and ventilation industries, his new role with Emplas puts him at the heart of the company’s continuous improvement programme.

Having originally joined Emplas in October 2015, he has been part of a team which has recently overseen the introduction of not only a brand new window system but also the launch of a new fully integrated stock control module.

Glyn said: “When we launched Optima last year, we also took the decision to replace a number of legacy supply chain systems with our new centralised stock control module to support it. These were both pretty substantial changes, but what it does is to set us up for the future.

“Emplas has seen some exceptional growth but we recognise how important it is to make sure that that growth is sustainable.

“Purchasing and stock control is a key element of that process. If you get your systems and processes right, work should just flow through the organisation, guaranteeing product quality and customer service and that’s what we’re building.”

Emplas started manufacture of Profile 22’s new Optima system in summer last year, starting manufacture of the new Optima Flush Casement window which has been designed to emulate traditional timber window design, this spring.

It is also in the process of a major extension of its factory, increasing the size of its manufacturing capability by a third to house new factory floor space, loading bays and offices.

Ryan Johnson, Managing Director Emplas said: “We’re making some pretty big investments, in product, in machinery, our manufacturing base and not least in our people.  We’re building a team of highly experienced individuals who bring a wealth of experience to the table and who are instrumental to our continuing growth.

“Managing our own processes more effectively, buying better, managing our own stock more efficiently and the onward processes through the factory, allows us to pass on those efficiencies to our customers in quality, price and service.”
